Jackie Y. Ying received her B.E. from The Cooper Union and Ph.D. from Princeton University. She was Professor of Chemical Engineering of MIT (1992-2005), and Executive Director of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology in Singapore (2003-2018). She currently leads NanoBio Lab as A*STAR Senior Fellow. Her research is focused on nanomaterials design and synthesis for applications ranging from biosensors and diagnostics, nanomedicine and targeted delivery of drugs, cell culture substrates and biomaterials, in vitro toxicology and drug screening, pharmaceuticals and chemicals synthesis, to battery and fuel cells. Her work has been recognized with American Ceramic Society Purdy Award, David and Lucile Packard Fellowship, ONR and NSF Young Investigator Awards, Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, ACS Faculty Fellowship Award in Solid-State Chemistry, TR100 Young Innovator Award, AIChE Colburn Award, IUBMB Jubilee Medal, Mustafa Prize “Top Scientific Achievement Award”, Academy of Sciences of Iran Medal of Honor, IAS-COMSTECH Ibrahim Award, and Turkish Academy Prize in Science and Engineering Sciences. She is a Fellow of German National Academy of Sciences, MRS, RSC, AIMBE, AAAS, SNAS, IAS and U.S. National Academy of Inventors. She is Editor-in-Chief of Nano Today.
